Sustainable Energy Supply in Mexico (Sumex) is the first reseller of clean electricity in the country, offering their services to customers in the commercial sector as well as state and municipal governments, and has become a relevant company and their product comes from clean sources.

According to Chairman of Sumex, Javier Garza, one of the main values of the company it is to offer a service that does not impact the environment, but he also acknowledged that the product cannot be delivered 100% clean, as the clean energy generation market in Mexico is still very small for the size of the customers they are serving.

In 2024 power generation from clean sources should reach at least 35%, according to the energy ministry (Sener), which is expected to obtain thanks to the adoption of the new energy reform.

However, the use of this resource carries certain risks, as for clean energy is considered as such should have a maximum of 100 kilograms of production of carbon dioxide, and one of the problems is that solar and wind power are intermittent, which means they are not continuously producing electricity.

Sumex has an ambitious investment plan, for 2016 it will invest 500 million pesos, also it plans to invest 1,350 million pesos in 2017 and 2.200 million pesos in 2018, which will involve a total investment of 4,050 million pesos in two years.

By May, the company already had a list of 20 clients, and by September it expects to reach 300. Some of the customers of the company are SEMEX, dedicated to the production of traffic lights and ODAPAS, which is an agency of Tecámac, in the State of Mexico.

The manager said, quoted in an article in Forbes, that "they´re currently giving to known the service of Sumex, which is very different from what has been seen in the market", he also said that one of its advantages is that they offer fixed rates, which don´t vary depending on the schedule of consumption, they have a two-year contract and the customers are charged only what they consume.

With the investment and the increase of the customers, Sumex is waiting to reach 1,000 mWh for 2016 and for 2017 it seeks to reach 5,000 mWh.

Finally Garza explained that what they do is buy power on the market, which is handled like a bag, so every day looking for real deals on the market.

Currently Sumex is the only player in the market of clean power supply, so they have a competitive advantage; however, the company does not rule out the possibility that in the future more companies will enter this sector in the country.
