Cielito Lindo is one of Mexico’s most recognised songs, composed in 1882 by Quirino Mendoza and Cortés and has always accompanied Mexico through all of its glories and sorrows.

The song is an ode to pride and during the national teams’ recent victory against the current World champions in the Russia World Cup, the song filled the streets of Moscow and Mexico.

Such was the outpouring of emotion that according to Spotify, the number of reproductions of Cielito Lindo shot up after the first goal of the Tricolor was scored, increasing by 1,845 percent in Mexico by the end of the match.

A version of this song tops the playlist Vamos México, which also features themes celebrating the famous triumph of the Mexican national team in the 2018 World Cup.
