The airline, announced its latest connection, by re-opening a flight from Seattle to Cancun. This new flight landed this past Thursday, in the Cancun International Airport, and brought 156 passengers from Seattle, WA into Cancun, MX.

This new Seattle-Cancun flight will operate daily, and will be open during the winter season and finishing on April 26th 2015. However, expectations are high: The flight promises to be very popular therefore will open an opportunity for Alaska Airlines to keep this new connection, permanently.

The re-opening of this flight could be concreted thanks to the great demand there is of visiting Cancun, additionally to the international recognition that destinations in Quintana Roo have acquired with time, places like Cozumel, Riviera Maya and Isla Mujeres.

For now the Seattle-Cancun flight will be daily but just until April 26th. Marco Aguilar, Director of Sales-México for Alaska Airlines said to México News Network that he hopes this first season exceed the sales expectations, this could make this seasonal flight into a regular one.

Francisco Albiter, General Manager of Alaska Airlines in Mexico said that Los Cabos in fact represents the most important Mexican destination for the company; it has seven daily flights that land at the Los Cabos International Airport. However, the state of Baja California Sur was recently struck by hurricane Odile; a natural phenomenon that affected hotels, highways, and the road surrounding the Los Cabos International Airport. This meant that the flight frequency had to be cut down to 2 daily flights; nonetheless the airline stated that by the end of 2014 or start of 2015, Alaska Airlines will reopen their 7 daily flights to Los Cabos.
