It is estimated to have an investment of 300 million dollars on its first stage, which is planned to open by 2017 or beginning of 2018. Among the most attractive features of Costa Canuva is the construction of a 250-rooms hotel from the Fairmont family and a golf course designed by former Mexican professional golfer, Lorena Ochoa.
About the governments’ participation on this project, Rafael Lang, Director of Mota Engil stated: “Fonatur was the donor of the land where the development will be established. Besides it will have capital investments from Mota Engil, financing from the commercial banks and from Mexico’s development funding” mentioned Lang during the project’s presentation at the 2016 Tianguis Turístico de México, taking place in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
Costa Canuva “will represent a first level touristic offer for the Bajio region”, said Lang, but also it will generate 6 thousand direct jobs and 18 thousand indirect jobs.
