The company America Movil, owned by the Mexican businessman, obtained the rights to broadcast in Latin America in 2013.
A few days ago it was announced that the Olympic Games Rio 2016 will be transmitted free of charge through various platforms in Mexico.
In 2013, the International Olympic Committee gave the exclusive license to America Movil, property of the Mexican businessman Carlos Slim, for the transmission of the Olympics this year on all media platforms in Latin America, excluding Brazil.
This agreement leaves out the transmission to the two major television companies in Mexico – Televisa and TV Azteca – and now it will be possible to see it on any device with internet and on the channels 22, 11, Claro Sports, Fox, ESPN and public television.
Arturo Elias Ayub, director of Uno TV and Claro Sports, form America Movil, said quoted in a Forbes article, that unlike previous Olympic Games, now everyone will have a way to see them whenever they like, and said that the over 30 games may be seen simultaneously on the platform www.clarosports.com free for all Latin America.
The firm chose a model in which the transmission will be free for all, from the opening, and these are expected to be the most watched Olympic Games in history, because the times will be much more accessible to Latin America compared to those of the last games held in London.
