5 Mexican beer destinations that you cannot afford to miss

Mexico is a country that has something to offer everyone, whether you are foreign or national.  It does not matter if you are looking for culture, adventure, gastronomy or just relax on a beach, there is something for you here.

One of those things that Mexico has to offer is beer tourism, which is intended for all those who love beer or who are simply curious about its manufacture.

 

Here we offer you five destinations that you can visit if beer is your favourite drink:

 

1 Ensenada, Baja California

 

Baja California is the cradle of craft breweries. With over 100 brands here you can find the Wendlandt Brewery, a brand that was born in 2012 and whose factory is located in El Sauzal, a community by the sea in Ensenada.

All year long, the factory offers guided tours to the general public, where you can appreciate the entire production process, from the machines to the bottling of the product.

The tour includes a visit to the tasting room, where you can discover the flavors of its eight labels, as well as your beer of the month when it is presented, a rooftop party with a live DJ is also organized.

 

The factory opens its doors every day, and there people can observe how their beers are made; At the back is the Trapiche Garden.

 

 

2 Colima, Colima

 

The Cervecería de Colima used to be an old soda factory, and that’s where Colimita was born, the most recognized craft beer in the state and that also recently won the bronze medal in the “World Beer Cup”.

The factory opens its doors every day, and there people can observe how their beers are made; in the back there is the Trapiche Garden, where visitors can eat ceviche, hamburgers and enjoy a delicious beer outdoors.

3 San Juan del Río, Querétaro

 

Here you will find the route of beer and cheese, and you can try two of the first craft beers that were created in Mexico, Tempus and Jabalí, which are produced a few kilometers from Tequisquiapan, in the Primus Brewery.

Three times a month, the company Spirit Adventurer makes visits to the facilities, where you can learn to roast the malt grains to create beers Lager, Pale Ale and Stout.

During the tour you will also be able to taste their wide variety of beersdirectly from the barrels, and later they will take you to visit the VAI Cheeses farm, where you will go through the reblochon type maturation cellar.

 

4 Mérida, Yucatán

 

Here you can visit the Patito Brewery, where they will explain what are the only four ingredients used to make craft beer: water, malt, yeast and hops.

Within the fermentation area, they will explain that hops is a sister plant of cannabis and that it gives the bitterness and aroma of beer, and once you get to the bottling area, they will teach you to distinguish the different types of beers.

This factory also has a restaurant where they serve the eight varieties of beers that it makes, with flavors like chamomile and chocolate, and there you can try some traditional Yucatecan dishes.

 

5 Mineral de Pozos, Guanajuato

 

In this place you will find the Casa Diamante boutique hotel, which has a spa in which the must of the beer is used to nourish the skin and hair, which basically means that you can take a beer bath.

The therapy begins with a foot massage with millet seeds and then you enter a wooden barrel filled with water and beer, at a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, where you stay for an hour.

The ingredients used during this peculiar therapy come from the Vopper microbrewery, which is located inside the property, and which can also be entered to learn about the Vopper brewing process.
