Some shots of the film Rogue One were also thought to be made in Mexico, but nothings hasn’t been confirmed yet.
After the successful premiere of Star Wars: Episode VII, the filmmakers visited Mexico City in search of the perfect location to shoot the next episode of the famous saga of George Lucas.
According to the Mexican newspaper “Reforma”, two of the sites that could possibly be used as locations were Tláhuac and Iztapalapa, as the Disney and LucasFilm team of staff were very interested in the caves and grottoes that lie in the area.
Their visit to Mexico City was in late 2015, even though nothing has been confirmed yet, there are many who say that it’s very likely to happen, since the natural features of the area could work out as an excellent location.
The shooting for the new chapter of the saga have already begun in Kerry, Ireland, but Mexico City still hasn’t lost hope to appear in the upcoming movie of the famous saga.
