JetBlue, New York’s Hometown Airline just opened up its 91st destination and it is none other than Mexico City, given that the capital of Mexico is such a metropolitan city, it was safe bet to integrate a daily nonstop service from Orlando and Fort Lauderdale to Mexico City, broadening the airline’s network into Latin America.
Vice president network planning, JetBlue, Dave Clark stated, “We are thrilled to launch nonstop service to Mexico City from our two Florida focus cities… Mexico City is one of the Americas’ most cosmopolitan cities, with a unique and rich history, beautiful architecture, world-class museums and lively nightlife. Our new nonstop service makes it easy to get there for business or leisure and our flights are timed to allow connections from many points throughout the JetBlue network. We also look forward to introducing the JetBlue experience to Mexico City based travelers and welcoming them onboard flights to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and many other destinations across the JetBlue network.”
This service is offered on the airline’s spacious A320 aircraft, which has the most legroom in coach; it also features free first-run Hollywood movies, and unlimited snacks and soft drinks. The schedules for this daily service allow travelers to connect to other destinations within JetBlue’s network.
The schedule flying off Fort Lauderdale leaves at 8.38 p.m., arriving at 11.05 p.m.; with a return schedule leaving at 5.40 a.m., arriving at 9.52 a.m. For the flights leaving from Orlando, the departure time is at 8.55 p.m., arriving at 11.15 p.m., and the returning flight leaves at 5.40 a.m. and arrives at 9.56 a.m.
Miguel Torruco Marques, Minister of Tourism of Mexico City said, “Mexico City is privileged to have strategic partners that enable the increase in the supply of air transportation to generate a greater number of international visitors to Mexico City. With the start of operations by JetBlue, the daily operations from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood and Orlando to Mexico City, will result in a greater number of foreign visitors to the destination and an increase in hotel occupancy, which will generate more economic profit for tourism service providers of this city,” quoted on the company’s official press release.
