One of the most anticipated albums of 2015, Los Dúo, by Mexican singer-songwriter and idol Juan Gabriel was just recently released yesterday to the delight of fans looking forward to a fresh take on some of this artist’s greatest hits.
This new release is available on CD as well as a DVD in which Mexico News Network’s production house, MNNHD, had a significant role in the production of many of the music videos for this new album’s songs. This process began as far back as October 2014 in the Riviera Maya, with the filming of recording of the star’s 1984 hit “Querida” (“Beloved”) with Colombian pop artist Juanes.
The last video produced by MMNHD was a duet between the Juan Gabriel and Spanish icon, David Bisbal, with whom he recorded “Yo te bendigo amor” (“I bless you, love”), which took place in December 2014.
In this timeframe, MNNHD also produced videos for songs that were jointly recorded between Juan Gabriel and Mexican singer-songwriters Natalia Lafourcade (“Ya no vivo para vivir”, lit. “I don’t live to live anymore”), José María Napoleón (“Verás”, lit. “You’ll see”), Espinosa Paz (“Siempre en mi mente”, lit. “Always on my mind”), as well as Puerto Rican artist, Luis Fonsi (“Te lo pido por favor”, lit. “I’m asking you, please”).
The new record, which already has reached 3 million plays on YouTube at the time of this note’s publishing, also includes joint recordings with many other musical icons such as Vicente Fernández, Carla Morrison and Laura Pausini.
One report from Mexican daily, El Universal, states that songs from the album have become the most sold by pre-order in Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, the United States, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru and the Dominican Republic.
The single “Querida” alone has already reached the Top 5 charts in the U.S., Mexico, Colombia, Cosa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala and Venezuela.
