Melissa Villaseñor grew up in Whittier, California, and with only 29 years old, she will be part of the 42nd season of the NBC show, which surprises many, as the program has often been criticized due to its lack of diversity.

Villaseñor appeared on the spotlight when she competed in the reality show, America’s Got Talent, where she was a finalist after presenting a comic routine, in which she imitated people like Miley Cyrus, Natalie Portman, and Barbara Walters.

After performing in America’s Got Talent, Melissa won the love of the viewers, and later she had the opportunity to be part of the study “Más Mejor” in Broadway, New York, which aims to support Latino voices in the American comedy.

When she arrived at the talent show, she said her job at a retail store was definitely not what she had planned with her life, because she wanted to be a comedian, and now she will be able to fulfill her dream in one of the most watched television programs in North America.
