Mexico surpassed Russia in the reception of international tourists
Mexico advances one place in the ranking of the most visited countries in the world, given that on the period from 2014 to 2015, it received 34.1 million international tourists, a fact that gave it the number ninth position on the list surpassing Russia, as reported by Taleb Rifai secretary of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), during his meeting with the President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto.
Rifai also announced that Mexico went from the 22nd place to the 17th in the list that refers to the foreign exchange earnings generated by international tourism. The 2016 Barometer, notes that during 2015 Mexico grew by 7.7 percent, earning revenues for 17 thousand 457 million.
The UNWTO Tourism Barometer is a regular publication, which allows informing, measuring and understanding travel trends, as well as programs and marketing strategies employed in this sector.

2. United States, 77.9 million
3. Spain, 68.2 million
4. China 65.8 million
5. Italy, 50.8 million
6. Turkey, 39.3 million
7. Germany, 34.8 million

9. Mexico, 32.1 million
10. Russia, 31.6 million
Taleb Rifai said during his visit to Mexico, that the country’s tourism sector will have a great year, because during the first months of 2016 an increase of 11 percent was given.
The UNWTO estimates that by 2030, 1.800 million international tourists will be registered, a figure that will depend on three main factors: economy, the participation of new markets such as Asia and the aging of the population.
