The product, which is being commercialized after securing two patent applications in Mexico, the United States, China, Europe and Brazil, also helps maintain and increase the weight of the animals, in addition to increasing production without resorting to hormones or antibiotics.
The researcher established in 2011 the company called “Permere et Renovare Salutis” (Preserving and Renewing Health / Welfare). He explains that the molecular complex is composed of a metal ion and a peptide (a molecule formed by the union of amino acids). From that he got a metallopeptide combination from which he developed Modulin Aves (supplement for chickens) and Modulin Swine (for pigs).
Reyes Esparza stated that the project started with a line of basic research on immunity and cancer. “It aimed to investigate whether the product was capable of stimulating the production of T cells,” he said during an interview with Mexican daily Gaceta de México. “It was a very satisfying result in animal tests, as the compound accelerated the production of antibodies, the immune response homogenized and promoted weight gain.”
This technology could increase production to 5% more than expected, increasing profits of farmers and poultry farmers.
Currently the company is based at the Morelos Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CemiTT) in Cuernavaca, Mexico. But a letter of intent with the Ministry of Economic Development of the State of Morelos was signed so that in the future the company could be transferred to the state of Morelos Science and Technology Park (Morelos R & D), where they may be more productive.
