Mexico City, October 23rd. – The Interior Ministry (Segob) published the telephone numbers to contact to locate the temporary shelters enabled in Jalisco, Nayarit and Colima, before the arrival of Hurricane Patricia, considered the strongest in world history.
In Jalisco, people can communicate to the number 01322-224-7701; in Colima the number is 01312-313-0311; and in Nayarit people can call 01311-133-0381.
Through its Twitter account, the federal agency asked the citizens to remain safeguarded starting from 12:30 p.m., given that the winds could surpass 300 kilometers per hour (approximately 186 miles per hour).
To the locations of Playa Perula, Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Banderas or at any beach area in Jalisco, Colima and Nayarit or whoever is in these places, they asked them not to underestimate the currenthydrometeorological conditions.
They also highlighted the importance of clearing the beaches, to avoid staying on the streets, locate in safe places preferably in shelters, not to shelter in vehicles, stay away from parking places and avoid streets, roads and open fields.
Suggested not to embark on any vessel, cancel any sea or river displacement in the area, take important documents in a plastic bag, have enough provisions and water for Friday and Saturday, while the contingency is overcame.
It also reminded people of the possibility of communication, power and water cuts, which in some cases may be preventive but in other cases they could be occasioned by hurricane winds and/or because of the rain.
Besides they also suggested to communicate with the family and let them know in which shelter one is located, given that when Patricia landfalls, it is possible there will be no way of communicating.
Insisted to maintain calm and follow directions from the staff of Civil Protection, as it is expected for a transitional emergency, but the authorities are ready to reestablish services as soon as possible.
