There are no Mexican films in this year’s selection of the film festival, according to general delegate Thierry Fremaux the reason is that they are all still in the postproduction process.

‘Neruda’ is being considered as the director Pablo Larrain’s biggest production yet, who’s directing the Mexican actor for the second time, the first one being in the feature film ‘No’, Oscar nominated for Best Foreign Film in 2013.

Gael plays policeman Oscar Peluchonneau in the film, who in 1948 was assigned to persecute poet Pablo Neruda to incarcerate him for being a member of the communist party. This film focuses in the exile of Neruda.

The film festival will take place from May 11 to May 22; we will be looking forward to this year’s winners.
