Kia Motors Mexico presented Friday the fourth generation of its subcompact model Rio 2018, made entirely in Mexico. It will be marketed with a new financing plan aimed at students.
During the presentation of the new Rio sedan, Horacio Chávez, general director of Kia Mexico, explained that the program is aimed at young students who are looking to start their credit history through the acquisition of a vehicle.
He pointed out that young people are the target market for Rio sedan, so this model will be the first with which will grant this modality of credit, with which, the brand seeks to increase the share of credit in its sales between 50 to 60%.
“Last year, about 12,000 units of Rio were sold in Mexico and this year we intend to reach 22,000 cars,” he added.
The car, which is produced at the Pesquería plant in Nuevo Leon, has a 1.6 liter engine, 121 horsepower and a 111 lb-ft torque, linked to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
