Japanese airline ANA arrives at our country

Starting February next year the Japanese airline ANA (All Nippon Airways) will land in our country, coming from Tokyo Narita, with a daily flight between the two countries.

This will be the first direct flight from Japan to Mexico City, after Japan Airlines (JAL) got rid of their Narita-Mexico City connection in 2010. Thanks to the free trade agreement, which includes 45 countries including Japan and the United States, and also to the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) our country was selected for this new connection; they also found it attractive for a manufacturing spot as well as an exportation location.

Since 2010 the direct foreign investment from Japan in Mexico increased approximately 2.7 times and the number of Japanese companies doubled, mainly in the automobile industry. This helped straighten the economic bonds between Mexico and Japan, both who’ll grow even more and in an important way when the TPP starts.

The sales office for ANNA in Mexico City opened on July 2015, having started their investigation and market development for this country a month before; they also presented a direct route from Tokyo Narita to Houston to offer connections to seven cities from the capital through shared flight codes.

ANA will operate route number 42 in Boeing airplanes 787-8; it is part of the international net expansion, vital for the airline’s growth. Nowadays Mexico has an increasingly growing role inside Japanese businesses; in 2014 142,000 airline trips were registered between Japan and Mexico, 17 percent more than the year before, according to ANA data.
