The amount of beaches around Mexico is impressive enough; and you don’t need to add more confusion to your already-made-up mind to come visit Mexico. You want to know the best part? Anywhere you choose to spend your dream vacations at is the right choice! The “downside” of it you say? …umm, what downside?! yeah, that’s right!
So next, I’ll list 5 -yeah, just 5 for now- beaches you definitely must go if you’re on the pacific side of Mexico, guaranteed to enrich your experience and, rest assured, you’ll want to come back again!
The white sands at Santa Cruz bay
Right here is one of Oaxaca’s little secret, a bay hidden within the extent of Huatulco, surrounded by hotels, parks and coffee shops, with a gorgeous view, nearby boats going for fishing trips and a huge dock decorating its scenery. In Santa Cruz you’ll get white sand, clear skies and turquoise waters, on top of that, you can watch how cruises head out to open sea from time to time.
Palapas and hammocks in Punta Zicatela
You won’t find this one so easily; it’s in Puerto Escondido at the end of a 7 km long beach. It is considered a perfect hideout for hippies and surfers, and has a lot of Palapas – small huts made out of dried palm tree leaves- with enough space to place a comfy hammock and sleep away the perfect afternoon.
At night, you’ll get a more tranquil mood and a clearer sky, which also happens to serve as a very romantic setup and a star gazing experience due to very dim city lights. If you’re on a party mood, cabs can take you downtown with lots of bars and nightclubs.
The urban resistant San Agustinillo beach
In the Mexican state of Oaxaca, lies a beach between Puerto Escondido and Pochutla, right there in the small town of San Agustinillo. Home of several crystal clear beaches, this one also has small hills on its side which makes it urban-growth resistant and helps it keep its natural vibe. A surfer’s paradise due to its high waves too!
Las Gatas beach
This beach gets its name by the nurse sharks –tiburón gata– that used to be abundant but now they are all gone from the place. A lot of things can be said about this beach in particular; first of all it’s a boat ride away from the municipal dock of Zihuatanejo bay, and its only 40 pesos round trip!
Besides being a gorgeous place with lots of seafood restaurants, it has a big reef that holds thousands of marine life forms, it’s perfect for scuba diving, although that means no waves for surfers near the coast, and so they might have to swim a bit further from the reef for that.
I dare say this one is my favorite; you can do A LOT of stuff in here besides just laying down on the beach and drink beer. This one is located in the state of Guerrero on the small town of Copala, just 150 km from Acapulco. You can do kayaking, snorkeling, camping and other fun water activities, plus you can also do a small tour on horse and take a walk by the beach. Some regard it as a perfect Honeymoon site due to its tranquil waters and quiet surroundings.
If you ever have the chance, don’t miss any of these amazing beaches on the Pacific Coast on your next trip to Mexico!
