Mexico is a country full of fascinating destinations, from north to south, from beaches to mountains to cities. Mexico has destinations for all tastes and likes and today we’ll be taking a tour around some of the cities that share the border with the United Stated and have an interesting mix of cultural aspects and a lot to offer.
Tijuana, Baja California
Tijuana is a vibrant and multifaceted city with an eclectic culture that includes interesting Street Art and modern, neoclassic and classic architecture. Besides in the last few years, it has experienced a boom in the culinary scene, especially in the tacos area, which combines old and new flavors and techniques.
Officially named as Heroica Nogales, is a city that reunites ancient indigenous cultures like yaquis, cucapás and pimas, with religious history and amazing gastronomy that combines the ingredients from both sea and land. Nogales also features a variety of natural scenarios such as mountains, desert and nearby river Magdalena.
Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua
This historic and highly transited city offers activities for all, such as adventure activities, visiting museums, walking around the Historic Center and appreciating its architecture, and enjoying its natural areas. Ciudad Juarez also has an energetic night life with nightclubs and bars that offer live music.
Matamoros is a city that offers a peculiar merge of culture, history and modernity. There are several museums worth visiting where to learn about Mexican history and art. But the city’s most attractive feature is the beach, a place where visitors can engage in number of water activities, as well as riding ATV’s or buggies, and finish up with a delicious seafood meal.
Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas
This bordering city offers the opportunity to connect with nature and history. It has several parks, an aquarium, a zoo and the Museum of Natural History; as well as the Archeological Park Umán that holds replicas of vestiges of the Aztec, Huasteca and Tolteca cultures. Also there is the Maclovio Herrera Market, where to acquire handcrafts, traditional clothing, candies, jewelry and traditional Mexican articles.
These cities are great destinations for those who want to learn more about Mexico, its culture, history and culinary traditions. Knowing that there’s much more of Mexico to be explored, just like these and other bordering cities.
