The streets of Tijuana, Baja California have turned into one big gallery and food court, so to speak. The artsy and culinary scenes are quite a big deal in this border city, features that have dusted off Tijuana’s effervescence and turned the city into a bustling and interesting place to visit; an attractive destination for food and art lovers.
Being one of the most crossed borders in the world, Tijuana gets an important influx. This allows the city and its characters to display -to a great audience-, their culinary and artistic proposals, therefore invite them to stay and enjoy what they have to offer in these areas.
Regarding the artistic scene: this has conquered from walls to galleries. Many of the local artists have taken their city walls as canvases and have given it a completely different look.
The independent galleries and art houses feature traveling exhibitions of different artistic expressions. Not only visual arts are thriving in Tijuana, music is another art form that is being recovered in the city.
When it comes to the gastronomic area, Tijuana has been getting a lot of attention lately. Foodies, chefs and a lot of people are visiting the city to indulge in their culinary proposals, from food carts to fancy restaurants, passing through local breweries and winemakers.
The flavors featured in Tijuana’s cuisine include local ingredients, the freshest ingredients… giving birth to a vibrant and refreshing gastronomy, as well as the Baja Med cuisine, which is an interesting fusion of Mexican, Mediterranean, and Oriental styles.
Both art and gastronomy have influenced the transformation in Tijuana, turning the city into something completely different of what people usually have in mind about this border city. Tijuana is a wonderful destination to satisfy the need for new flavors and intriguing works of art; a place that has them both.
