Fly directly to Cancun and Riviera Maya!
People from all over the world visit Cancun and Riviera Maya year after year... Thousands are attracted to the Mexican Caribbean, but do you know why? What makes these destinations so popular?
Cancun and Riviera Maya are the most important destinations of Mexico and Latin America, receiving at a yearly basis, thousands of tourists from all over the world! Visitors travel for hours on end, just to enjoy the beauty and charm of the Mexican Caribbean!
Destinations in the Mexican Caribbean, such as Cancun, Riviera Maya, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, among others, have greatly developed with time. 4 decades ago, the world had no idea of their existence, let alone visit them… So, what is the key for their impressive growth? We can sum it up in one word: Connectivity!
The Cancun International Airport is one of the most important air terminal in Mexico, in fact it’s the second most important of the nation –regarding infrastructure–, and the main entrance port of international flights.
The Cancun International Airport has three terminals that receive 100 national airlines. Aeropuertos del Sureste (ASUR) is the airport’s managing company, and stated in recent reports that Cancun’s air terminal mobilized 16.7 million travelers yearly… Numbers that are in constant increase, as time passes and with the introduction of new flight frequencies.
Mexico’s federal government, in collaboration with the state of Quintana Roo and Cancun’s local government, with the support of private companies and civil associations, issue a series of advertising campaigns and promote the Mexican Caribbean with the world! This has led to excellent results, such as:
-A considerable increase in flight frequencies into the Cancun International Airport, from Brazil, Colombia, Spain and United States, with new airlines now flying into the Mexican Caribbean.
-Copa Airlines, raised their daily flights into the Cancun International Airport, and went from having 4 to 7 flights into Cancun, everyday!
-LATAM also increased its daily operation, opening a new flight from Bogota, Colombia to the Mexican Caribbean; a flight that will start running by the start of this winter season.
Additionally, the hard work the government has carried out in international fairs, has also led to the achievement of excellent results. For instance, during this year’s International Tourism Fair in Spain (FITUR), a solid negotiation was concreted: A collaboration between Spanish airline Iberia and Mexican Airline, Interjet. Both signed an alliance to improve the air connections of Iberia in Mexico using Interjet’s aircrafts.
According to the 3rd Government Report from Roberto Borge Angulo, governor of Quintana Roo; Cancun and Riviera Maya are the most important tourist destinations in Mexico, registering in one year the arrival of 13.5 million of visitors which left an economic benefit of 7.7 billion USD, which represents 41.5% of Mexico’s total profits from tourist activities.
But what do these numbers mean? That Quintana Roo is on a roll and rising above all! Thanks to the promotion campaigns made by the government, the state has brought the attention of many international airlines, negotiations that will be reflected for next year’s numbers of visitors.
