Another reason to visit Mexico’s capital

Many people still have the idea that the never-resting metropolis of Mexico City is an unsafe place to visit; some even consider that the whole country is synonym of drug war and violence; and that is an unfair misconception as it’s being thought as a whole and not individually. Mexico City is in fact safer than cities in U.S. and Latin America and it offers magnificent entertaining options for every type of visitor.

There are number of reasons why Mexico City is a magnet for visitors from all over the world, for such it was named as the No.1 “Place to Go in 2016” by The New York Times; although sometimes people miss this appealing destination because of the mistaken idea that it is a dangerous place; yes, one might be in the wrong place at the wrong moment and have a bad experience, but that is actually something that could happen virtually anywhere.

As stated on an article by Law Street Media, “Mexico City has lower homicide rates than a great deal of American cities and is safer than the capital cities of many of its Latin American neighbors.

On behalf of the U.S. State Department, there is no Travel Warning for Mexico City, which means that it is not considered a hazard for tourists visiting the city and it is safe to visit. Of course there are some things to consider like staying off some areas like Tepito, Lagunilla, Iztapalapa, and Nezahualcoyotl; a safety measure that is taken in any large city of the world.

Another good advice is to use safe taxi services, such as Uber, which has been regulated in the city; or ask your hotel concierge to call for a taxi; this is the best option, instead of just grabbing one out in the street. If using other public transportation, just as the subway and buses, just be sure to know the route and stops.

Mexico City has made changes for the better and the city has incredible things to offer, from culture, history, gastronomy, art, music and so on; and as stated on an article by Law Street Media, “Mexico City has lower homicide rates than a great deal of American cities and is safer than the capital cities of many of its Latin American neighbors.” It is a place that one must visit at least once; there is nothing to regret about this vibrant and eclectic city, the grand capital Mexico City.
